EM3DS is the tool of choice for RF and Microwave analysis of any planar structure having some non-planar feature like MEMS.

Download the latest version of EM3DS..........

Version 10 includes completely new features. The main ones are:

  • Macromodeling: creating macromodels which allow to see how the response of circuit is modified in real-time for a modification of a parameter
  • Macromodel optimization: the optimization can either run on a macro-model or a native electromagnetic structure
  • Macromodel tuning: move the tuner slider and see how the response changes
  • Updated help: migrated into HTML format and reviewed.
  • Animated online tutorials:reduces the time needed to exploit full EM3DS functionality
  • Multimode calibration algorithm:now it is possible to import externally defined termination conditions

Any skilled RF designer knows that before running a production sample it is a good rule to check the design by at least two independent solvers; EM simulation is a kind of art and one might have overlooked some settings or effect in a given simulation.

EM3DS is the tool of choice for any planar structure having some non-planar feature. For example a Dielectric Resonator with a microstrip circuit: this is a classical case where several planar programs would not solve the problem, where time domain general purpose programs could be faced with issues due the high quality factor of the resonator, and similar frequency domain programs are generally slower.

EM3DS embeds several unique features; for example EM3DS is the only program interfacing acoustic and electromagnetic simulation for Bulk Acoustic Wave Resonators, implementing controlled current sources to model linear FET transistors etc. The other programs won’t simply be able to address those classes of problems.

EM3DS formulation guarantees a monotone increase of accuracy when mesh is refined; this is not generally true for all formulations, and it shares such a feature with a few other programs. The numerical dynamic range is inherently larger than several popular programs using Sommerfield integrals. EM3DS is extremely fast, and in many cases (e.g. Manhattan geometry with proper planar aspect ratio, large number of frequency points) it is probably the fastest in the market owing to its “asymptotic estimator”
